YOUNG FLYERS: AERIAL ARTS

Inspiring confidence and strength in young people - one gravity-defying trick at a time!

Why Young Flyers?

Our Young Flyers courses encourage children to get in touch with their inner child-like nature of hanging upside down and having fun. Our beginner courses start with the basics and build upon what is taught each week. We start the session with a fun warm up to music, followed by a few conditioning exercises to develop strength and coordination. New tricks and hangs are taught each week, as well as some free play time to give the children a chance to recap and remember what has been taught in previous lessons. Children are usually having so much fun spinning around upside down they don’t realise they are actually building strength, co-ordination and flexibility!

FAQs

What Aerial Arts are taught?

On Monday we teach Aerial Sling which is a piece of fabric suspended from the ceiling. It is very soft and supportive and we learn a variety of wraps and hangs. On Tuesday we alternate weeks between Aerial Hoop and Aerial Sling. Aerial Hoop is metal circle that hangs from the ceiling. You can hang on the bottom bar or climb into the hoop and do tricks in the hoop itself.

What days do these courses run?

We run our Beginner Aerial Sling Course on Monday from 16:35 - 17:20 and our Beginner Mixed Aerial Arts course on Tuesday from 15:50 - 16:35 and 16:40 - 17:25.

How much does it cost?

The sessions cost £10 each and are run as courses alongside the school term, so the course price differs depending on how long the term dates are. A 10% discount code is offered if you book before a certain date each term. Get in touch with us at hello@mayadanceandfitness.com and we can give you some more information on this.

How old does my child have to be to join?

We accept children between the ages of five and twelve. After twelve they can move up to our Teens classes. More information about the teens classes can be found here: TEEN CLASSES

What clothing should be worn?

We recommend long sleeved tops and leggings to protect the arms and legs. Your child should be comfortable and able to move around freely.

Can I stay and watch?

You are more than welcome to stay and watch. We have limited seating at the front of the studio.

What else should I bring?

We recommend bringing a water bottle just incase your child gets thirsty

Do you run taster sessions?

We do run taster sessions. Please e-mail hello@mayadanceandfitness.com for more information on the next dates these will be running.

Does my child need previous experience in dance and gymnastics?

Absolutely not! These courses are tailored for total newbies and your child will build strength, co-ordination and flexibility as the weeks go on.

Can I park at the studio?

We don’t have space to park outside the studio, however there is lots of on street parking nearby.

How do I find the studio?

Details of how to find us can be found here: FIND US!

What happens after my child has attended the beginner course?

We recommend children do a few beginner courses to develop the co-ordination and strength needed for advanced. Each beginner course will be different - so even if your child stays at beginner for a year they will still be learning new tricks and hangs and developing their skills. When the instructors feel that your child is ready to move up to advanced, we will e-mail you before the next course start date.

Testimonials

My daughter loves these classes - they’re really challenging but very satisfying as they learn how to create beautiful shapes and the kids are always so proud of themselves! They’re nice small groups and Anna gives them all personal attention which really helps.
